Hinge’s Mission

Using a place-led approach, the Hinge Neighbors Board was initially created to ensure that those who lived on either side of the Inner Loop North roadway had their voices heard before road demolition and reconstruction began. Now, as our community continues to grow and change, we seek to further inspire a clear and growing commitment to protect neighborhood diversity and culture, planning, and individual investment.

Hinge Neighbors is dedicated to bridging connections and conversations among neighbors, institutions, and municipalities. We involve and organize residents and community partners to create a cohesive neighborhood using a transparent planning process. Our values–community, communication, co-creation, compassion, and equity–guide our work.

We demonstrate the power of placemaking by forging community partnerships and collaborations while countering community skepticism, ensuring neighborhood maintenance, and promoting sustainability.

Our mission will result in an interconnected community of residents and business owners working together to sustain a thriving neighborhood. We will work to stimulate private investment, mobilize the public’s will with an innovative mission, and drive connections for a creative neighborhood economy.
